President Donald J. Trump is set to fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport at 9:35pmThursday night for a rally and meetings across the Valley on Friday.

It’s important that we pray for the protection of the President and his team and the peace of our communities over the weekend.

The President will be staying two nights in the Phoenix area as part of his campaign swing through three Western states. It has not yet been announced where the Presidential party will stay but it is expected to be at one of the Scottsdale resorts. It also is not known whether President Trump will travel across the Valley in a traditional black SUV motorcade or by presidential helicopter.

Throughout his time in the Valley, President Trump will be surrounded by high profile government leaders including Governor Doug Ducey and U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, both of whom the President is endorsing in their respective races.

Here’s what we know about the President’s schedule:

  • Around lunchtime Friday, President Trump will speak at a fundraiser in Scottsdale.
  • After the private fundraiser, the President will head west to visit and tour Luke Air Force Base, and will host a roundtable with elected officials, defense contractors, and local representatives.
  • The President then travels to Mesa for the “Make America Great Again” rally, which begins at 7 p.m. inside the hangar of the privately held International Air Response at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, 6200 block of Taxiway Circle, Mesa. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. This is the same facility used in 2015 when Mr. Trump, then candidate for President, came to Mesa.
  • The President and his team leave Phoenix early Saturday morning for a scheduled 11 a.m. event in Elko, Nevada.

Valley police have been preparing for the President’s visit and the big event Friday night. Dt. Steve Barry with the Mesa Police Department said that while protecting the public’s right to freedom of speech, their highest priority is to keep everyone safe.

As Arizona Watchmen, it’s important that we pray:

  • Heavenly Father, we lift before YOU our President as he flies into Phoenix Thursday night. We pray for YOUR peace and protection to surround him, and for Your purposes to be accomplished while he is in our city.
  • Lord, we ask that YOU give wisdom and divine strategy to Mesa Police Chief Ramon Batista and other local, state, and federal agency officials in how to keep our communities safe during the President’s visit.
  • We ask that every police officer would carry out his or her responsibilities with wisdom and discernment and make right choices when spur of the moment life-and-death decisions must be made.
  • Father, we pray for YOUR Spirit of Peace to prevail over the protesters and supporters of President Trump and this administration. We declare, in Jesus’ Name, that YOUR Shalom (the authority that destroys chaos) will prevail over the rally and other meetings this weekend. We pray that people will conduct themselves with civility and all will be done with decency and in order.
  • Heavenly Father, may the Phoenix metroplex and all of Arizona be a shining light of YOUR righteousness in the next days. May we be a city set on a hill that reflects YOUR glory to the world.
