Celebrating the Life of Dr. Billy Graham
Today we give thanks to the Lord for the life and testimony of Billy Graham, one of America’s most loved and admired Christian leaders of all time.
Dr. Graham, who was on Gallup’s most admired list 61 times since 1955— more times than any other person—passed away Wednesday at the age of 99.
The world-renowned evangelist was truly an ambassador of Christ to this nation and the entire world. He will be greatly missed. As we pay tribute to this great man of God, please also be in prayer for the Graham family in their time of loss and grieving.
Billy Graham is known for his simple yet powerful proclamation of the gospel, which impacted countless lives around the world:
“I have one message: that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and he asked us to repent of our sins and receive him by faith, and if we do, we have forgiveness of all our sins.” – Billy Graham 2005
Born in 1918, Billy Graham was America’s new beginning 100 years ago and today gives way to another new beginning, a new season with great expectation of a Great Awakening, with millions of souls coming to Christ.
In a statement to The Christian Post, Will Graham, the grandson of Billy Graham and the son of Franklin Graham, said:
“My grandfather once said, ‘One day you’ll hear that Billy Graham has died. Don’t you believe it. On that day I’ll be more alive than ever before! I’ve just changed addresses.’ My friends, today my grandfather moved from the land of the dead to the land of the living,” Will Graham declared.
No doubt, as Billy entered heavens gates, he heard the Lord say: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness’” (Matt. 25:21)
