Security is stronger than ever this Thanksgiving weekend as nearly 51 million people travel and massive gatherings like sporting events, concerts, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York occur.

As you gather with family and friends, it’s important to stay alert in prayer for the safety and security of our Nation. The Lord is reminding us not to fear, but to “watch and pray”.

We are to live as in Nehemiah’s day, working with one hand to build the wall, and on the other hand carrying a weapon to protect our families and our Nation from enemy attack. Of course, the weapons the Lord has given us are spiritual, the sword of God’s Word and prayer.

Is it any coincidence that this is the 91^st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Could it be that this largest Thanksgiving event with 3.5 million people is a reminder to pray Psalm 91, not only over this single event but also over large gatherings all across our nation?

In light of recent terrorist attacks, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Terrorism Advisory System has issued a heightened alert pertaining to terrorism threats to the U.S.

“Our enemies remain focused on attacking the United States, and they are constantly adapting. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity,” the bulletin stated.

Let’s also remain vigilant in prayer! As we call upon God to halt the plans of our enemies and uncover the works of darkness, we will see the Lord’s mighty hand and outstretched arm bring victory to us and to our Nation.

Let’s pray:

• Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your abundant blessings upon our families, our Nation, and us. Time and time again You have provided for us and protected us from our enemies. Thank You for Your great mercy and loving-kindness!
• During this Thanksgiving weekend, we ask for Your protection once again. We pray according to Your promises in Psalm 91 for the safety and security of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, in particular. Send forth Your angels to guard over the 8,000 participants and the 3.5 million people in attendance. Uncover any evil plots and open the eyes of law enforcement to see suspicious activity and intervene before any harm can be done.
• We hold before You every place where people will gather– from sporting events, celebrations, concerts, and malls to churches and other places of worship. We speak Your Word over these locations that “There is nothing covered that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be made known (Matt. 10:26).
• Lord, we pray for Your angelic hosts to guard over our border crossings, ports of entry, and airports. We declare that every evil plot will be exposed. “Frustrate the plans and schemes of our enemies so the work of their hands will not succeed. Destroy the schemes of the wicked in their plans that they will be thwarted” (Job 5:12-13).
• Father, we pray protection over our family and friends along with the millions of others who will be traveling on our roads and freeways this holiday week. Give Your angels charge over them to keep them in all their ways. (Psalm 91: 11). We ask You to cover our highways and byways with Your Spirit of peace and protection and remind drivers to be sober, alert, watchful and prayerful, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN!
