Should this prayer take place, “Phoenix would be the only city in the entire country that would allow a Satanist to deliver the invocation at a council meeting,” said City Councilman Sal DiCiccio.

An invocation is, according to the Oxford dictionary: “The summoning of a deity or the supernatural – the action of invoking something or someone for assistance.”

Traditionally and historically an invocation has been the opening prayer of a meeting or assembly, calling upon Almighty God to give wisdom and guidance and for decisions to be divinely inspired.

Why would we want to invite anything or anyone less than Almighty God to guide our city, especially an entity that opposes God and His goodness in every way?

Since the announcement that the Satanic group will deliver the Phoenix City Council meeting invocation, we at BridgeBuilders have been bombarded by emails from people asking what can be done to stop this.

The obvious answer is that we can PRAY, asking God to shut the door to the Satanic group’s access to give the invocation (Isaiah 22:22). Yet we can also ACT by letting our voices and views be heard.

Four members of the Phoenix City Council, – Sal DiCiccio, Bill Gates, Michael Nowakowski, and Jim Waring are taking action and have developed a plan to change the council invocation policy; the plan will be presented at the Phoenix City Council meeting this Wednesday, February 3 at 2:30 p.m.

The city council members working on this plan are asking for our help.

Sal DiCiccio is asking as many people as possible to email him before this Tuesday stating their disagreement with the planned Satanic invocation on February 17.

It is important to pray first, YES! It is also important to vote, stand with and support our godly elected officials when they ask for help.

Please call and/or email your Phoenix City Council members before Tuesday, February 2 and share your views regarding the satanist invocation on February 17. As always please be respectful in all your remarks.
